What the Circuit Clerk Does in Yazoo County
The Circuit Clerk serves as Clerk of both the Circuit Court and the County Court. The office receives and files lawsuits, indictments, motions, and related papers in civil and criminal cases that belong to those two courts. Marriage Licenses and Marriage Records
A couple planning to marry in Yazoo County applies for the license at the Circuit Clerk. The office issues the license and keeps the marriage record afterward. The county FAQ still describes older steps, so a quick call clears up what is needed today.
The county FAQ says applicants should bring a picture ID and a blood-test receipt dated within the last 30 days, and that anyone under 21 needs a parent's signature on the registration form. Many Mississippi counties no longer require a blood test, so call the Circuit Clerk at 662-746-1872 before applying to confirm the current rules and the fee, which the county does not publish online.
The state also keeps marriage records. The Mississippi State Department of Health marriage records page sells copies by mail, online, or in person at its Ridgeland office, and it points people back to the Circuit Clerk in the county where the license was issued. How to Request a Certified Copy
A certified copy carries the clerk's seal and signature, which marks it as a true copy of the court's record. People need certified copies for legal proceedings, name changes, background checks, and similar matters where a plain printout will not do.

Mail and Online Court Filings
Mississippi now runs its trial courts through Mississippi Electronic Courts, known as MEC. The Mississippi Judiciary site says Chancery, Circuit, and County Courts file electronically and that the public can view documents through the subscriber side called PAMEC. Yazoo County's Circuit and County Court records sit in that statewide system.
Remote viewing through PAMEC needs an account and charges per page, so it is not the same as a free public terminal. The annual registration is $10 and viewing runs 20 cents per page.
